Residential Care Services

Southmead provides Residential Care to elderly people, including those with higher levels of dependencies and needs. We aim to look after people right from the time of admission through to the end of their lives wherever possible.  We always carry out a full assessment of a prospective client's needs prior to admission, with the aim of ensuring that we can meet the person's needs fully.  We can usually help people who have some degree of confusion and dementia, but we do not provide for those with more severe forms of this condition.

We have stairlifts, hoists and assisted baths to help us safely meet the needs of people with limited mobility.

Our home care is delivered by our team of trained carers over the full 24 hour period, with waking night staff providing cover between 8pm and 8am.

Day Care Service

Within our overall limit of 16 people, we also offer a day care service to provide respite for carers with whom a client normally lives. Drop off in the morning and pick up at any time later up to 8 p.m. and we will provide warmth, food, company, entertainment and personal care in the form of an assisted bath if required.

At Southmead we aim to recreate home life at the same time as providing peace of mind for everyone by removing the hazards of living alone.  Our residents are encouraged to live their lives independently while having the easy comfort of a daily routine. We assist people to remain active as long as possible and to participate in as many activities as they are able to manage, subject to their own limitations.

Food and nutrition are a very important part of home life.  Our chef offers seasonally varied menus with individual choice. Most dietary requirements can be catered for.

We welcome both long and short stay residents, whether privately funded or assisted by Social Services, although in the latter case it is possible that some element of "top up" may be needed.

Fees are determined partly by the accommodation chosen and also by our assessment of the level of care needed.  Fees are normally reviewed annually in April, and are payable monthly in advance. The fee includes accommodation, meals, laundry service and 24 hour care.  Once we have discussed your needs with you, we can give you a clear indication of the price we will need to charge for the care we provide.
